234 [PGBSC Blog] update from Montreal

Hi Jason,

Sending you another quick update between heats and finals.

Tonight there will be some special events showing up at the Olympic Trials
and I encourage you to not miss this - I know there are lots of things to
do on a Saturday night.

I cannot let the cat out of the bag...but it has to do with some swimmers
that most of the parents in the club would have heard of...

There will be a very exciting 200 breast stroke race - one that will
absolutely make the crowd go crazy.  No clear winner - it could go any way.

The buzz continues in Montreal.  As we load up on the Metro subway - you
hear the majority of passengers talking about swimming.  I also learned
last night from the Director of Quebec swimming that 2014 is the World
Masters Aquatics event at Parc Jean Drapeau in Montreal. 6000 or so
athletes to find their way to diving, waterpolo, swimming stardom.

It is a very proud moment when you are on deck officiating, and you look
down towards the ready room, and you see an orange cap, and a big smile
coming back to you.  Yes - it was Katie Mann with the big grin - and
wanting to get out on the block.

As I watched Haley Black on deck last night in the B Final, she looked
calm, relaxed walking out to her lane, yet at the same time, you could tell
she was ready.  A great race for her...and her family.

You find yourself getting consumed by the race - working with them stroke
for stroke, breathing for them, it is captivating.  I must have swam a few
kilometres this week with our swimmers...in mind anyways.  I think I better
go for a nap - isn't that what we are supposed to do after heats?

Enjoy tonight!
