138 [PGBSC Blog] Great big Thank you

Hi Everyone

A Great Big thank you to all parents that volunteered to make the Prince George Northern Medical Sprint Meet such a success. I hope you enjoyed yourself and maybe met some new friends along the way. This meet is all about the swimmers, but it is all the parent volunteers that make this meet possible. If you enjoyed yourself so much and want to know more about other positions than timing, how about the next level Stroke and Turn. Stroke and turn is not as scary as you may think. It is a little more stimulating than pushing a button and you still get the best seat in the house to see your swimmers. Also, the course educates you as a  parent on the different elements of the stroke and turn, so that you are aware of what the judges are looking for. I usually hold these courses on Saturday which requires you to read over the material the night before and work with the instructor at pool side Saturday morning for 2.5 – 3  hrs. If you are interested, check the web site out: BCSOA – look under clinics and you will find all the courses. I will try to offer another course in the next few weeks if not the new year.

Enjoy the rest of the day off and put your feet up. Job well done......

123 [PGBSC Blog] update about Jerzy

Hi everyone

I wanted to say hello and send my thanks for all the support I received while in hospital. Thanks for the flowers, cards, and laughs. I am very fortunate that I didn't injure myself too badly, and all is good. They tell me it will be a long healing process, especially for my liver. I am at home now with my personal nurses, Doris and Magda. I am walking and eating and under close supervision.

I am taking rain checks for anyone who needs their tires fixed. Send me an email!

120 [PGBSC Blog] Jerzy

Good Afternoon everyone.

You may or may not have heard by now, about the incident that happened over the weekend regarding Jerzy, the Head Coach of the Barracudas.

On Saturday, after returning home from practice, Jerzy went about putting winter tires on his families vehicles.  Unfortunately, he neglected to put the e-brake on and tragedy happened in the form of Jerzy getting stuck under the car and car rolling over him.

He was rushed to the hospital with a crushed liver and badly bruised body.

At the time, doctors told his family that he would be in the hospital for, at least, 5 days; maybe more.  He may have also suffered a fractured or broken pelvis.  There was a possibility of surgery today.

However...

... I spoke with him earlier this afternoon.  He is still in the hospital.  He sounded really good.  A little tired, but a strong voice none the less.  He had his first walk.  He will not need surgery.  He does not have a fractured pelvis and if all goes well with the rest of today and overnight, he could be home tomorrow.

Keep your fingers cross!

I will be holding timing courses Thursday, November 3rd and Tuesday, November 8th for those interested. Sign up sheet will be on the board as well.
