Club Message- November 2023

Hello Barracuda Community!

We are excited to be back in action for with the club now that the pools is back in full swing. Our registration numbers
are up again this season and we can't wait to watch the swimmers as continue their growth over the coming year!

I wanted to highlight a few things that are happening in the club so that both new and returning folks know what is
coming over the next little while:
ï‚· The Mr. Lube + Tire Invitational is coming up in Prince George November 17th -19th . Registration is now closed for our swimmers. If you have any questions about the meet or your swimmers eligibility please check with the coaches.
o These meets take a large number of volunteers, the expectation is that if you have a swimmer in the
meet that you have at least one volunteer available for each day of the meet as well.

o We have on occasion had to remove swimmers from competition due to a lack of availability to
volunteer for your child's meet and lack of communication with our coordinators.
o Communication with our volunteer coordinators is a critical piece of putting on these events. Please
respond promptly and politely as this is a difficult task to get all of the positions scheduled and put into
place.
o Nicole Ellington (Director of Officials) is hard at work putting the officiating schedule together, please
sign up if you have done so already. If you are unsure of what position you should sign up for meets or
time trials please reach out to Nicole.

ï‚· Recently our AGM was held to go over the past years programming and the current status of the club.
Unfortunately, attendance was rather dismal and disappointing for the board to see. We have a dedicated
group of people connected to our club that are helping to keep these programs running, several of which do not
have a swimmer in the club at the moment. Your input and attendance is critical in order to continue to shape
the club so that we can continue to operate for years to come.

The Prince George Barracudas are very fortunate to have several members of our swim family stay with the club to help
officiate and run other club functions. I want to personally thank all the folks that have been a part of our club to ensure
our success while new folks are coming up to take on those roles. A special thanks to Marylin King who has just finished
a lengthy term on our board and is a key promoter of the Barracuda Swim Club and the sport within Swim BC and Swim
Canada. Thank you Marylin for your dedication and insight!

We have multiple officials that have come through our program that have gone on to officiate at the Provincial and
National Level. To hold these accreditations is a great accomplishment and we are thankful to have these folks helping
to teach our upcoming officials and put on the swim meets that we hold in Prince George. Thank you to Larry Chrobot,
Kerim Ozcan, Marylin King, Sheila Nelson, Mike Moran, Kathy Rice, Phil Rice and Jose Lopez. We could not put on the
level of meet that we do without your guidance and support.

The board is back in action after our AGM with a very similar crew to last year. We want to welcome Katrina Molendyk
to the team as our Fundraising Director. Katrina has been helping in capacity a fair amount this past year and we are
thankful for her willingness to step into the role officially.

We do expect to have some open positions on the board moving past this season. If you are interested in helping to
shape the program please reach out to me.

The Barracuda Swim Club has meant a great deal to our family. An opportunity for our kids to swim and train at a high
level, learn how to set goals and go after them and meet some incredible folks in the swim community in the process. I
look forward to this year to see our team come together and work to build some character and resilience in our
swimmers.

Take care,

Mark Grasley

Barracuda BBQ Success

Prince George Barracuda Swim Club
Barracuda BBQ Success

Hello Swim Families,

A very warm thank you to all of you parents for an excellent season and everything you do for our growing athletes. We see you, yes I'm talking about you cooking healthy meals, driving to early morning swim practices, the weekend commitments, all while keeping up with the shopping, cleaning, laundry and especially all of those extra wet towels every week. I'm talking about the caring and the love and the scooting your kiddo(s) off to bed at a descent hour, the long drives for swim meets, the nagging, the laughing, the encouragement, your continued ability to make time for and support our club events, the pride you show for your swimmers and day after day you just continue to pour your love into these amazing kids - and it all shows. The kids were so kind, helpful and happy and it was exciting to watch them in their picnic competitions (mine in sock feet), laughing their heads off and having fun with their buddies.  ;

And weren't those Centennial burgers AMAZINGGG?

All this to say I hope you have a Summer filled with fresh air, sunshine, water and rest. Soon it will be Fall with autumn leaves, crisp evenings and our next event this October - 'Barracuda Awards Night' with a dinner, silent auction, door prizes and of course goodies for the kiddos.

Good luck to our swim families heading off to Summer Divisionals and Summer Provincials.

Warm wishes to you and yours,

See you in the Fall,

Wendy

BBQ and Contribution

Prince George Barracuda Swim Club
BBQ and Contribution

Hello all,

I hope you are getting through this very busy month with as much ease as possible.

Gentle reminder that if you have not RSVP'd for the BBQ on June 17th to please do so today or tomorrow. I am going shopping for supplies this weekend and I would love to have enough food to feed everyone (joking not joking).

Also if you have not contributed to the coaches gifts can you please consider sending me an e-transfer for $10 - $15 for each swimmer you have with the club to wendy.m.bergman@gmail.com. We are about $300 away from my goal to get Jason and Jerzy $100 gift cards and mugs and Kathleen and Magda $75 gift cards and mugs and everybody else $50 gift cards. If not no problem and certainly no pressure!

If you have not signed the cards do not worry I will be at the pool Mon, Tues, Wed, Thursday and will have the cards set up in the gazebo to sign on the 17th.

Kindly,

Wendy

practice cancellations, pool set up and information about Dental Moose Meet

Prince George Barracuda Swim Club
practice cancellations, pool set up and information about Dental Moose Meet

Good Morning!

This email contains information that affects all groups in the club.

This weekend, we are hosting our annual long course Moose Meet, sponsored be the dental community of PG.

Therefore, practices for all groups will be cancelled Friday, Saturday and Sunday; including Monday morning's Youth practice.

I will be at the pool for 11:45 Friday morning to set up the pool. If anyone is able to come out for about 60 minutes or so, to lend a hand, that would be great. Send me an email, jason@pgbsc.org, if you are able to volunteer.

Many of the kids in D2C will be attending their first ever meet. This will be a great opportunity for them, and their parents, to see how much fun there is over the course of the weekend. Under the Parent's Tab on our website, click on Swim Meet Information. There is lots of information about what to bring to the pool as well as what to expect while you are there. So do take a moment to read through that.

All swimmers must wear their Barracuda t-shirt.

All swimmers must wear their Barracuda cap for all their races. If you need an extra cap, contact Nicole at equipment@pgbsc.org

All swimmers must be on the pool deck by the far bleachers in the deep end of the pool 20 minutes prior the the beginning of warm ups each day.

Friday warm ups 4:30-5:30pm. Racing begins at 5:40 until approx 8:00pm.

Saturday and Sunday warm ups 8-9am. Racing begins at 9:10am until approx 1:30pm, each day.

If you have any questions, please let me know.

Cheers,

Jason
