The competition will determine Swimming Canada's team for the 2011 FINA World Championships this summer in Shanghai, China.
To qualify for Canada's Worlds team, swimmers need to win the race, provided that it's part of the Olympic program, and meet the required "Fina B" time standard. A second place finish could also result in an athlete being selected, provided that the "Fina A" time standard is met.

Swimming Canada will also be selecting its team for the 2011 Junior World Championships in Lima, Peru as well as finalizing the selection of the 2011 Universiade Team that will compete in Shenzhen, China.
