[Prince George Barracuda Swim Club News] - COVID-19 Mitigation (Q & A) from Prince George Aquatic Centre
Hi Blog PGBSC,

Here is the News information:
News Title: COVID-19 Mitigation (Q & A) from Prince George Aquatic Centre
News Date: 03/13/2020

Afternoon everyone,

The following is information from the Aquatic Centre staff regarding COVID-19 and pool operations

Question: Will the pools or any programs be cancelling?

Answer: Currently there is no intention to close the pools or cancel programs.  That decision is fluid and can change based upon the risk level changing.  The City is in regular contact with the provincial Health Authority and will advise residents should a public facility such as the pool make adjustments to operations.

Question: What is the pools cleaning and disinfection practices?

Answer: The pools have a robust cleaning and disinfection schedule which meets Northern Health requirements.  Areas where there are high traffic touch points are disinfected multiple times throughout the day in addition to all surfaces disinfected nightly.  The pool water is disinfected using a chlorination and ultraviolet light system which kills germs on contact.

Question: What are the pool regulations regarding Health and Hygiene?

Answer:

·         Patrons who have flu-like symptoms/illness, such as diarrhea, vomiting, head colds, ear or nose discharge, ear infections, have open sore or bandages, or have related symptoms should not enter the pool.

  • Please shower before entering the pool.

·         Spitting/nose cleansing is not permitted anywhere in the facility.

·         Outside footwear is not permitted on the pool deck or shower areas.

·         Bathing attire is required to be clean and appropriate; for pool use only

·         Infants, toddlers or persons with incontinence must wear a swim diaper and/or elastic swim pants.

Question: What education is occurring within the pools in the prevention of germs?

Answer: Signage is posted throughout the facility and aquatic staff are educating customers on good hygiene practices such as showering before entering the pool etc.

[Prince George Barracuda Swim Club News] - COVID-19 Update from Swim Canada

Prince George Barracuda Swim Club
[Prince George Barracuda Swim Club News] - COVID-19 Update from Swim Canada
Hi Blog PGBSC,

Here is the News information:
News Title: COVID-19 Update from Swim Canada
News Date: 03/13/2020

Swim BC just completed a conference call with Swimming Canada (12:45pm Friday March 13th). The following decisions were communicated:

  • Canadian Olympic trials have been postponed. Swimming Canada is currently determining whether they will be cancelled pending City of Toronto decisions.
  • Canadian Western and Eastern Championships are cancelled (not postponed)
  • All domestic swimming competitions between March 16th and April 20th must be cancelled. This does not include practices.
  • All other swimming related activities (ie: NCCP courses) are dependent on local and provincial health authority decisions. At present all Swim BC planned NCCP courses will be conducted as scheduled. If there are any changes to local facilities, we will let candidates know
  • Swim BC does not recommend any swimming related travel internationally including the United States.

Please note some insurance carriers are exempting claims related to COVID-19 if contracted outside of Canada. Please consult your personal carrier for more details.

Jerzy will be speaking with the Kerim regarding the practice schedule during the second week of spring break. We should be sending out an email about that meeting in the next day or two.

Again, if you have any questions/concerns, please let me know.

Cheers,

Jason

News Title: CONVID-19 and club operations
News Date: 03/13/2020
Good Morning everyone,

As many of you know, CONVID-19 has put a stranglehold on the world.

We want to inform club members this morning, that, as of today, we are still running practices. (With the exception of the first week of spring break).  Our Moose meet April 24-26 is still a go.

We are in daily communication with SwimBC and pool management. If, either informs us that, practices are to be suspended or the pool will be closed until further notice, we will send out an email to the membership.

Carry on what you're doing while doing your due diligence by washing your hands and using hand sanitizer. If you have a fever, stay home. Be safe.

If you have any questions or concerns, please let us know.

Cheers,

Jason
